I have mentioned before that I have a box of quotes which I reach into when I am looking for inspiration. I grabbed this one a while back and had left it on my night stand.

“All human beings should try to learn before they die what they are running from, and to, and why.” – James Thurber

I liked it because, as you may have noticed, I like to self reflect. In doing so one can’t help but think about what motivates them…for better and for worse.

I remember reading once that all of our decisions are motivated by one of two things – love or fear. That really resonated with me at the time, but now…I think we are much more complicated than that.

More to the point

While striving to understand what motivates us to run toward or away from things (or people) is undoubtably a worthy endeavor, the first step should perhaps be to stop running.

Not to give up, but to trust.
