“We need a renaissance of wonder. We need to renew, in our hearts and in our souls, the deathless dream, the eternal poetry, the perennial sense that life is miracle and magic.” — E. Merrill Root

I don’t think there is any better place to find wonder than by the ocean. It’s wonders are endless and timeless. Yesterday, cousin Jenny found a baby seahorse grasping onto a loose blade of eel grass. It was no more than an inch long. As we stood there in the tourquoise sea, she gently placed it into my ten year old’s cupped hands. Beau beamed and whispered to me, “I could be in school right now, learning about decimals.”

This seahorse was later caught by my niece, Brianna.

The decimals can wait. This week, there is wonder to be found, and the renewed sense “that life is miracle and magic.”
